One Family

Twenty Five Years

20012026

From home garage to a Design Gallery, a journey of faith, vision and growth

America, the New Home

June

1994: A family comes to Sacramento

The Chernioglo family portrait from the 1990s: Danil and Dora with their three sons

On June 28, Danil and Dora Chernioglo emigrate from Moldova with their three teenage sons, Vlad, Eugene and Larry. Sacramento becomes home.

1994: Career start, at fifteen

An American flag flying, the Statue of Liberty in the distance beyond it

Two weeks after arriving, Vlad, the eldest son, takes a summer job as a warehouse keeper in West Sacramento, hired by the Davis family of Paradise. As he tells it, he has never once felt like an outsider in a country where hard work is respected and the American dream is open to anyone willing to reach for it.

The man who hired him, Jim Davis, was a Korean War veteran, a businessman, and a volunteer pastor. His example of stewardship shaped how Vlad has approached people ever since, in life, in work, and in ministry.

February 26. The marriage joins two families and begins the partnership that carries the business through the next twenty five years.

They are blessed with four children: David, Karina, Daniel and Tim.

The Founding

2001: The American dream, at heart

The first crew carrying a long timber beam through the workshop

It begins before the company does. Vlad Chernioglo arrives in the United States and finds what he dreamed of. A place of freedom, and a people whose warmth and welcome he has never forgotten. That spirit set the direction of the Chernioglo family for good, and the name the design build company would carry was settled long before the company existed.

In 2001 it takes a shape you can stand in. A remodeling company out of a garage in South Sacramento, built on the conviction that every home is worth doing right. The first crew is four: Vlad, his brothers Eugene and Larry, and his uncle Yuriy Torlak. His son David is born on January 15. By the end of March the company has taken shape.

The spirit of the family design build company was born here.

2003: Beyond the Valley

The growing team gathered in the early office, balloons overhead

On demand and workmanship alike, design build service expands across the Sacramento Valley, into the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, with the company now working in both exteriors and interior design build.

2004: Vlad and Tanya join forces

Vlad and Tanya together, arm in arm, in the early years of the company

Vlad asks Tanya, his wife and a young mother of two, to join the effort, and they decide to build it together. Each brings a different strength. His is the vision and the work in front of the customer. Hers is order, and everything the company needs behind the scenes to keep its word.

The wife and best friend becomes the business partner. She picks up the call center, the office, and the finances, and in practice she is running operations years before anyone gives it a title.

What she brings is systems. Where there had been instinct and long hours, she builds process, and much of what holds the company together twenty two years later was laid down by her in these early rooms.

The partnership between them deepens from there. Raising a family, building a company, and growing in faith develop together, and the company takes on the same character. A team of professionals working toward one standard.

This is where the idea that gives this wall its name takes hold. One family, united in all things, and in everything that came of it.

2007: The first gallery

One thousand square feet. The first room where a client could see the work rather than imagine it.

2007: The mission of giving begins

A large group of family and team members gathered on the deck of a riverboat

It starts in Mexico, feeding families in need, building housing for those without it, and carrying the faith through practical help rather than words. In 2011 the work extends to Moldova and Ukraine.

In 2015 it reaches Mozambique, the largest of the projects and the one still growing. Working alongside several partner agencies, it provides clean drinking water, food, basic medical care, and education to communities with access to none of it. The work now reaches sixty four communities and more than ten thousand people directly, and wells drilled a decade ago are still running.

The family and the company remain involved in all of it today.

Through the Recession

2009: The years of adversity

The recession hits the home industry hard and the market slows to a halt. Exterior work slows and interiors become the center of the business, a shift that shaped everything that followed.

2011: Stone fabrication

The company opened its own stone fabrication shop with one simple conviction: no family should have to live without a functioning kitchen for an extended period of time.

At the time, long delays from outside fabricators were common, leaving customers waiting far too long for their homes to be completed. Bringing stone fabrication in house was a major undertaking, but it gave the company control over the schedule, craftsmanship, and final quality.

With our own fabrication came unmatched quality, greater dependability, and accountability from start to finish, allowing us to deliver a level of service the market could not consistently provide. Leading the industry rather than following it has been our aim from the start.

2012: The team that held

The team gathered together around the kitchen table during the hard years

Vlad gathers everyone and tells them plainly that the company is struggling, and that the only way through is to raise prices in the middle of a crisis. The team does not flinch. They encourage him to do it and say they will stand with the company to the last day if it comes to that. He follows the call and trusts the outcome to the Creator. Within six months there is more work than the whole year before.

2014: The market returns

The recovery arrives and the company meets it in better shape than most, because the professionals never left. The team was already in place when the opportunity came.

The Years of Growth

March

2017: New headquarters

The company acquires its current home at 7115 Watt Avenue. The gallery that opens there serves Sacramento and the surrounding region as a home of design.

2017: Costco

Costco selects the family company as its contractor for the region. Within the program the company out delivers every competitor in the country, and that year the report ranks it first among 320 companies for sales, customer satisfaction, and fewest escalations.

Costco wanted to understand how it was done. Vlad was interviewed several times, together with Cambria, so the approach could be studied and carried to others in the program.

2017: Watt Avenue and the Cambria Stone Gallery

The Cambria Stone Gallery: quartz slabs presented vertically along both walls of the gallery

The Cambria Stone Gallery is the first of its kind in the United States, built on Vlad’s idea of presenting slabs vertically. It became possible through Marty Davis, CEO of Cambria, who contributed more than fifty slabs of the newest designs after a brief meeting with Vlad in Minneapolis. That December the designer gallery opens, giving the Sacramento metro a kitchen and bath presence at a new level.

2017: David Chernioglo joins

The second generation enters the business. David starts alongside his parents and learns the trade quickly, then comes on full time in 2019 as an exterior designer. He moves to interior design, then assistant sales manager, becomes sales manager in 2022, operations manager in 2024, and Vice President of DreamHome Appliance Group.

He brings a new generation’s approach to an old trade, and the same heart for stewardship his father was given at fifteen. What he is after is not scale but standard, raising what this market is willing to call good.

2018: Karina Chernioglo joins

Karina joins the call center as its youngest member and advances quickly. Within a year she is running it, leading every conversation a customer has before a sale.

2019: DreamLine custom cabinetry

The region needed a European frameless cabinet maker, and Vlad’s idea was to bring the two traditions together. European machinery and method, which set the standard for precision, joined to American woodcraft and the American love of wood.

That combination became DreamLine. Today it delivers the finest bespoke cabinetry available in the region, and ships to custom home builders and homeowners across multiple states.

2019: Associates become owners

Over the years Vlad has encouraged employees and associates to build something of their own, then helped them do it and stayed available long after they left. Several of those companies are thriving today across multiple states: America’s Advantage Remodeling, US Quality Construction, Good Life Home Improvements, GVD Renovations, 2nd Mile Homes.

The relationships did not end when the businesses started. They remain in contact, still trading advice and work, and watching one another succeed has been among the most rewarding parts of twenty five years.

The Gallery

March

2024: The 900 Sunrise project

The Design Gallery location is acquired and design work begins, aimed at one of the country’s strongest representations of classic and modern design. DreamLine sits at its center, with nationwide partnerships in luxury appliances and surfaces around it.

The reason for the location is the same reason behind everything before it. A large share of the company’s clients live in Placer and El Dorado counties, in Roseville, Lincoln, Loomis, Newcastle and Auburn, and they deserved a place of this caliber close to home rather than a drive away.

2025: DreamHome Appliance Group

Formed out of a need the clients themselves made plain. Cabinetry cannot be designed without knowing the appliances it has to hold, and most of these clients are professionals with no time to shop for them separately. Bringing appliances in house meant one destination and one team accountable for the whole room.

Luxury partners across the country took notice. The appliance group and the Design Gallery have grown together since, each raising what the region can expect from a home.

2026: Daniel and Tim Chernioglo

Vlad and Tanya with their two younger sons, Daniel and Tim

The two younger sons join the marketing team, teenagers eager to grow with the family business. Daniel has a developer’s mind. Tim has a builder’s.

2026: Design Gallery Coeur d’Alene, ID

The first Design Gallery outside California opens in Idaho. Coeur d’Alene is one of the fastest growing regions in the Pacific Northwest, drawing homeowners and builders who want work at this level and have had to travel for it. The same brands, the same standard, and the same people now serve them close to home.

Design Gallery Roseville, September 2026

Twenty five years from the garage, the doors open on Sunrise Avenue.

Cabinetry, surfaces, appliances and design under one roof, at full scale and in real light. A destination for designers, architects and builders, and a room where any homeowner can decide with confidence.

It began with a couple who set out to be the best at building homes, and became something larger than the work. Carried from a kitchen table in 2004 to the 900 Sunrise Project.

Living the American Dream

Vlad and Tanya Chernioglo today
“A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Ecclesiastes 4:12

This company was built by people who arrived with nothing and found a country that made room for them. That is not a slogan in this family. It is a memory. A fifteen year old two weeks off the plane, handed work by a man who expected him to earn it and treated him as though he already had.

America gave that. The freedom to build, the expectation that you will, and the respect that follows when you do. Everything on this wall is what one family did with it.

The work itself is simpler than people assume. A home is where a life happens. Where children are raised, where families gather, where someone returns at the end of a hard day. No one should have to settle for that room.

So the standard here has never been sympathy. Sympathy feels sorry for a family waiting months on a kitchen. Empathy remembers what it is to live without one, and then shortens the wait. That difference built the fabrication shop, the cabinet mill, the appliance group, and in the end this gallery. Each of them exists because someone asked what the customer actually needed and then went and built it.

Twenty five years of work as one family, and a country that made it possible.

The wall itself hangs in the Roseville gallery. Stand in front of it, then walk the floor the twenty five years built.
