Sub-Zero Designer columns and drawers, panel-ready
Three Sub-Zero Designer pieces stand in the Walnut Creek kitchen at Design Gallery, all panel-ready behind clear-finished walnut: a 30-inch column refrigerator with an internal filtered water dispenser, a 30-inch column freezer with an automatic ice maker, and a pair of 30-inch refrigerator drawers. Together they show the Designer idea in one room, cold placed where the cooking needs it rather than in one large box.
Open the column doors, pull the drawers, and look at how the panels meet the cabinetry around them. The Walnut Creek display page lists every piece in the room.

What sets a Sub-Zero apart from a regular refrigerator
A Sub-Zero keeps fresh food and frozen food on separate, sealed cooling systems, so the humid air of the refrigerator and the dry air of the freezer never mix. That is dual refrigeration, and it is the core of the brand. Sub-Zero adds an air purification system adapted from technology used by NASA, which scrubs the ethylene gas that ripens produce, and magnetic door seals that hold a steady climate.
On the floor you can check the claims that can be checked by hand: how a column door draws itself shut, how the drawers glide under load, and how the controls set a temperature that the refrigerator drawers hold within a degree.
Who makes Sub-Zero, and where it is built
Sub-Zero is made by the Sub-Zero Group, a family-owned and family-run company based in Wisconsin. Westye Bakke launched the Sub-Zero Freezer Company in 1945, and the family still leads it. The company says its refrigeration is built in its own plants in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, and Goodyear, Arizona.
The group has three names. Sub-Zero makes the refrigeration and wine storage. Wolf, whose residential business Sub-Zero acquired in 2000, makes the cooking. Cove makes the dishwashers. They are designed to work as one kitchen, which is how you see the first two here: Sub-Zero columns a few steps from a Wolf range in the same room.

Seeing Sub-Zero near Sacramento
Design Gallery is at 900 Sunrise Ave in Roseville, a short drive from Sacramento, and Sub-Zero here is installed in finished kitchens and cold, not parked on a pedestal. Come with your plans and your questions, open every door, and stand where you would stand at home. Visits are by appointment, and the Book a visit page holds the times.
Bring the people who will use the kitchen. A household that shops weekly and one that shops daily want different refrigeration, and that is easier to settle with the doors open than with a brochure.

Yes. Every unit on the floor is installed and cold. The tasting counter is stocked from it.
