The company was established in New Zealand in 1934 by Woolf Fisher and Maurice Paykel, and it still designs its appliances there, an island vantage point that keeps the work a little independent minded.

Fisher & Paykel's clearest idea is the DishDrawer: two independent drawers you load standing up rather than one deep basin you stoop into.
