Who Makes the Brands on Our Floor, and Where They Are Built

Designers ask who makes an appliance for practical reasons, not curiosity. Who owns the brand decides who answers the phone in ten years, where the parts come from, and whether the company that built the range will still be the company that services it. This is the answer for every brand on the Roseville floor, one question per brand, each fact taken from the manufacturer’s own pages or its parent’s corporate filings and checked in September 2026. Where a company does not say where something is built, we say that instead of guessing.

The families at a glance, brand to parent to where it is built:

• Sub-Zero, Wolf, Cove: the Sub-Zero Group, family-owned, Madison, Wisconsin. Built in Wisconsin and Goodyear, Arizona.
• Viking: the Middleby Corporation since 2013. Built in Greenwood, Mississippi.

Who makes Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove?

All three are the Sub-Zero Group, a family-owned company in its third generation, founded in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1945 and still headquartered there. Wolf cooking joined the family in 2000 and is built in Fitchburg, Wisconsin; Sub-Zero refrigeration is built in Wisconsin and, since 2011, at a plant in Goodyear, Arizona, which the company says now produces more than half of its refrigeration. Cove, the dishwasher, was announced from Madison in 2018 to complete the suite. Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove are the resident brands of the working kitchen here, installed and running.

Who makes Viking appliances, and where are they made?

Viking is built in Greenwood, Mississippi, where the company was founded and where its factories still are. Since the start of 2013 it has been owned by the Middleby Corporation, the Illinois maker of commercial and residential kitchen equipment. Viking is not, and has never been, owned by Whirlpool; the confusion comes from the number of American brands Whirlpool does own. Three Viking kitchens are on the Roseville floor, including the double wall ovens in the green kitchen.

Who makes Monogram appliances?

Monogram is made by GE Appliances of Louisville, Kentucky, which has been owned by the Haier Group since 2016; the GE name on the appliance is licensed, and the company that designs and builds it is GE Appliances in Louisville. GE Appliances describes Monogram as built in a dedicated micro-factory in Louisville. It sits above the Profile and Cafe lines in the same company’s range. A Monogram has its own kitchen on the floor.

Who owns Dacor, and where is it built?

Dacor was founded in California in 1965 and has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America since 2016. Its headquarters is in the City of Industry, in Southern California, and Samsung stated at the acquisition that Dacor would keep its brand and its US-based manufacturing; Dacor says its cooking appliances are designed and built in Southern California. Where is Miele made, and who owns it?

Miele is owned by its founding families, as it has been since 1899, and is headquartered in Gütersloh, Germany. The company lists nineteen production plants, most of them in Germany, with others in Austria, the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, Italy, China and North America; which product is built where is published plant by plant on Miele’s own site. Miele wall ovens and built-in coffee machines are on the floor, in the coffee bar and the oven wall.

Who makes Gaggenau?

Gaggenau has been part of BSH Hausgeräte, the Munich appliance group owned by Robert Bosch GmbH, since 1995. Its own company profile names production in Germany, at Lipsheim in Alsace, France, and in Spain and Turkey, and BSH names Dillingen among the German plants. Gaggenau is on the floor.

Who makes Thermador, and where?

Thermador is the American brand of the same group: BSH Home Appliances Corporation, headquartered in Irvine, California. Thermador says its dishwashers, ranges, ovens and cooktops are built in its plants in LaFollette, Tennessee, and New Bern, North Carolina. Thermador cooking is on the floor.

Who makes Bosch appliances?

Bosch home appliances are also BSH, which builds Bosch dishwashers for North America at the New Bern, North Carolina, plant it shares with Thermador, alongside its plants in Europe. The Bosch name on a dishwasher and the Bosch name on a power drill belong to the same parent, Robert Bosch GmbH, but the appliances come from the BSH side of the house. Who owns Fisher & Paykel?

Fisher & Paykel began in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1934 and has been part of the Haier Group since 2012, which makes it a corporate sibling of GE Appliances. The company’s own history page does not say where its products are built, so we do not either. Fisher & Paykel is on the floor.

Who makes JennAir?

JennAir is a brand of the Whirlpool Corporation of Benton Harbor, Michigan, alongside KitchenAid and Maytag; it came to Whirlpool with the Maytag business in 2006. JennAir’s own history begins with Louis Jenn and the downdraft range in the 1960s. Whirlpool does not publish which of its plants builds JennAir, so that is a question for the spec sheet of the specific model. JennAir is on the floor.

Who makes Cosentino surfaces?

Cosentino is a family company from Almería, in the south of Spain, still headquartered in the industrial park it built in Cantoria. Silestone, the quartz surface, dates from 1991; Dekton, the ultracompact surface, is made in a dedicated factory in the same park. Both are on the floor at full scale, as counters, backsplashes and slab walls, and Cosentino is one of the five resident brands here.

Who makes DreamLine Custom Cabinetry?

DreamLine Custom Cabinetry is designed and built in Northern California by our sister cabinetry company, and every environment on the Roseville floor is built in it. It is the one brand here whose maker you can meet in the building. DreamLine is a resident brand, and the finished runs on the floor are the proof of the shop.

Who makes La Cornue, and where?

La Cornue was founded in Paris in 1908 by Albert Dupuy, who built the first oven with a vaulted ceiling to move heat around the food. Its Château ranges are made to order by hand in the company’s workshop at Saint-Ouen l’Aumône, outside Paris, and numbered by the craftsmen who build them. The company has belonged to the Middleby Corporation since Middleby bought the AGA Rangemaster group in 2015. Who makes AGA, and where?

AGA cookers are designed and built in Telford, Shropshire, in England, from cast iron poured into moulds and finished by hand in vitreous enamel; the brand’s heritage page traces the foundry work to Coalbrookdale, in the Ironbridge Gorge, from 1947. AGA Rangemaster has been part of the Middleby Corporation since 2015, which makes AGA, La Cornue and Viking corporate siblings. What ownership does and does not tell you

Two myths come up often enough to answer directly. Viking is not owned by Whirlpool; it is owned by Middleby, and it is built in Mississippi. Monogram is not made by General Electric; it is made by GE Appliances, which is a Haier company, in Kentucky. Neither fact says anything about how the range cooks. Ownership tells you who stands behind the warranty, how deep the parts supply is, and which service network shows up at the door. It does not tell you whether the burner holds a simmer.

What ownership also tells a designer is where the families are. Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove share one service path. Thermador, Bosch and Gaggenau share BSH. Monogram and Fisher & Paykel share Haier. Viking, AGA and La Cornue share Middleby. A kitchen that keeps its appliances inside one family often keeps its service calls inside one phone number, which matters more in year eight than in the showroom.
