La Cornue

La Cornue is French cooking treated as custom craft. Since Albert Dupuy built his first range in 1908, the house has made ranges to order, by hand, in France, closer to commissioned furniture than to a shipped appliance. A La Cornue is chosen the way a designer chooses a signature piece for a room: color, brass or nickel trim, configuration, all specified.

That is exactly why it belongs in a working showroom. The presence of a La Cornue range, its proportions and its finishes, does not read from a photograph. It reads in person, at scale, as the heart of a kitchen designed around it.

The engineering is as deliberate as the finish. Albert Dupuy is credited with the vaulted oven that gives the range its distinctive convection behavior, and the house has built on that idea rather than replaced it for more than a century of French manufacture. Each range is still made to the customer's specification, which is why no two need look alike.

For a designer, La Cornue is the statement at the center of a room, and the Gallery is where that statement can be stood in front of, sized against real cabinetry, and understood before it is commissioned. It rewards the visit precisely because it is made to order, not pulled from a shelf.

On our floor you can stand in front of one at full size, sized against real cabinetry, and understand it as the heart of a room rather than a line on a schedule. Because each range is built in France to its own order, the floor is where a client learns what they are really commissioning before a single choice is locked.
