Viking
Viking is the brand credited with bringing the professional-grade range into the residential kitchen. Founded in 1987 in Greenwood, Mississippi by Fred Carl Jr., it started a whole category: commercial cooking power, engineered and certified for the home, and it still builds ranges, cooking, refrigeration, ventilation and outdoor equipment around that founding idea.
A range like that is meant to be cooked on, not admired behind a rope. In the Gallery, Viking is installed and working, so during a chef session or a private trade visit you can light the burners, feel the output and the control, and judge the argument with your hands rather than a brochure.

Viking's heritage is the professional kitchen translated for the home: heavy burners, serious oven capacity, and the kind of build that reads as equipment first and appliance second. The brand is now part of the Middleby Corporation, a commercial-kitchen group, which keeps that professional lineage close to the source.
On our floor the range is set into finished DreamLine Custom Cabinetry, the way it will live in your kitchen, next to the ventilation and refrigeration it was designed to work with. Stand at it, work the controls, and let a range you have actually cooked on settle the specification.
A Viking you light, not look at
Viking helped invent the idea of a professional range in a home kitchen, and a range like that only makes its case with a flame going. On our floor the burners are lit whenever a session is running, so you can turn a heavy burner up and down, feel how the oven holds capacity, and read how much of the professional kitchen carried over. This is a range you judge with your hands and your ears, which is the whole reason to see it running rather than staged.
The Viking range on our floor
Viking builds around the range but reaches across the kitchen and out to the patio:
the professional-style cooking that started the category, with serious burner output and oven capacity.
hoods built to clear the heat and steam that cooking power produces.
built-in refrigeration to sit alongside the cooking.
dishwashing to round out the indoor suite.
grills and outdoor cooking for the household that cooks past the back door.
The indoor suite and the outdoor equipment sit on one floor, so you can plan a kitchen that runs past the back door in a single walk.
Specifying Viking with our team
For a designer, Viking is the range as the working heart of a kitchen, and the Gallery lets a client feel that heat before it is specified. Bring your plans and our team can walk you from the range configuration to the ventilation sizing, the clearances and the rough-in, and you can host a client while a chef is cooking on the range you are proposing. See For Designers to set up a partnership.

Can I cook on a Viking range at the Design Gallery?
During our chef sessions and private trade visits, yes. Viking is installed and running on the Roseville floor in finished cabinetry, so you can light the burners and judge the output and the build before you specify it.
What makes Viking significant in the appliance world?
Viking is credited with originating the professional-grade residential appliance category when Fred Carl Jr. founded it in 1987 in Greenwood, Mississippi. It brought commercial-style cooking power, engineered for the home, into the residential kitchen.
Who owns Viking, and where is it made?
Viking is headquartered in Greenwood, Mississippi, and Middleby has owned it since 2013. The brand states its appliances are made in the USA.
What Viking products can I see on the floor?
Ranges and rangetops, ventilation, refrigeration and dishwashing, plus outdoor cooking, all shown set into finished cabinetry as one working suite.
Do you help designers specify Viking?
Yes. Our team works with designers on the range and the hood above it, then on the clearances and rough-in the trades will need. A client can be hosted while a chef cooks. See the For Designers page.
