Zephyr

Zephyr is the California ventilation brand that decided the range hood should be a design object, not a duct you apologize for. Its hoods are built to be seen: sculptural wall, island and downdraft forms that carry the ventilation as a deliberate part of the kitchen's architecture rather than a compromise hung above the cooktop.

A hood that is meant to be looked at has to earn its place from every angle, and that is a judgment you can only make in the room. In the Gallery, Zephyr is installed over a working cooktop, so you can walk around it, see how the form reads against the cabinetry, and confirm it pulls as well as it presents.

Induction cooktop set into a stone island in the Design Gallery showroom

Zephyr's argument is design and airflow together: hoods developed with a designer's eye, paired with the blower performance and lighting a real kitchen needs. The result is ventilation that behaves as a focal point over an island, where an ordinary hood would break the line, without giving up the capture the cooking demands.

On our floor the hood is set above a cooktop that is actually cooking, in finished DreamLine Custom Cabinetry, so the sculptural piece and the working machine are the same object. Stand under it during a chef session, judge the light and the pull, and decide whether ventilation can be the thing your eye goes to first.
